Meet the Rix Gas Services Team

Rix Gas Services has its roots in Phoenix Heating Specialists, founded in June 2020 by Matthew Dixon. Matthew set out with a clear mission: to build a heating company that was reliable, efficient, and consistently high in quality. His commitment quickly earned a loyal customer base and a strong reputation across the region.

In 2024, Phoenix Heating Specialists proudly became part of the Rix Group, taking on the name Rix Gas Services. Today, the team continues to deliver the same personal service and technical expertise our customers value, now strengthened by the resources, stability, and reach of the wider Rix Group.

Behind Rix Gas Services is a dedicated team of Gas Safe registered engineers and customer support staff who share the same values Matthew started with: putting customers first, delivering work to the highest standards, and ensuring homes stay warm and safe all year round.

Matthew, while in overall control of the business is still working “on the tools” and generally completes all the servicing and repairs for our portfolio of customers. Having accumulated vast knowledge both from a managerial capacity and an engineering capacity he has a solid set of skills when it comes to diagnosing boiler faults and completing servicing and repairs. Outside of work you’re likely to find Matthew with his young family or in the gym, working towards an outlandish fundraising event. In December 2021, Matthew attempted to run 48 miles in 24 hours to raise funds for cancer research UK and has vowed that the next challenge will be bigger yet so watch this space. Heres a few words from Matthew:

Having left my previous role as Head of operations at a national company, I’d had plenty of first hand experience observing how businesses across the industry where operated and most importantly, where they were falling short. One key element that I felt was commonly overlooked was good old fashioned customer service. From the outset I wanted to create a culture within Phoenix Heating Specialists that grasped the importance of this fundamental factor and also embraced a carefully selected number of expressions. These expressions would become our “core vales”, a set of values deeply rooted and embedded within each employee that represents the business, in order to ensure that we are working in unison with the same goals and ambitions in mind.

Lead engineer – Dale Kirkwood

Dale is our lead installation engineer who completes the vast majority of our installation work. With a keen eye for detail and a meticulous nature, he leaves his pipework shiny and your new boiler operating efficiently and effectively. He has been within the trade for well over 10 years and simply loves fitting boilers. Since joining the business back in 2020, he has fitted in perfectly and despite the hard work associated with this aspect of the trade, Dale loves getting stuck in and getting the job done. When Dale isn’t hard at work he’s no doubt either walking his dog, looking after his kids or slipping off to have a quick game on his computer.

Internal operations manager – Danny Collinson

It’s always nice to put a face to the name, and those who have called the office will likely have been greeted by the warm and welcoming tone of Danny. He is responsible for navigating all incoming calls and ensuring that our customers receive a quick and efficient solution to their problem. On top of his administration duties, he also co-ordinates company marketing campaigns and is passionate about delivering an impeccable level of customer service and care. Outside of work, Danny is a keen cricketer and adorns the whites for local team Patrington Cricket Club every Saturday throughout the summer months.
